On December 19, 2018 Ambassador Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka went to the Bolshoi Theatre at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which customarily hosts Ambassadors and their wives for an annual festive seasonal reception at the Bolshoi. This year it was for the ballet performance of Don Quixote.

On 19 December 2018, The Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) hosted the traditional Asian Cultural Week, attracting hundreds of Asian students, including those of Sri Lanka, at the University premises.

On December 18, H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka paid a courtesy call on His Grace Celestino Migliore, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church who was appointed by Pope Francis as the Apostolic Nuncio to Russia. Celestino Migliore is a Titular Archbishop of Canosa and has spent most of his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See in the UN (New York) USA, Egypt, France and Poland.

On December 14, H.E. Dr.Dayan Jayatilleka Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation paid courtesy calls on Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation, H.E. Ngo Duc Manh, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico, Norma B. Pensado Moreno.

On December 13, Ambassador Dr.Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka visited the Exhibition "Nicaragua from the eyes of Russian children", held at Nicaragua Embassy, and were impressed by the drawings of young artists, the way children managed to symbolically express their view on peace, friendship, love, joy, kind-heartedness, and "angel's protection of Nicaraguan people from the demonic threat".

On December 12th, the Russian Foreign Ministry organized for a large group of high ranking diplomats a remarkable visit to and a tour of Skolkovo, the fast growing ecosystem of high-end technology solutions. Skolkovo is an emerging R&D Centre just outside of Moscow's city border, founded 9 years ago as a platform for research and development projects. The place has grown from ground zero in the field of sand into a glass-and-steel techno park, which is now second in Europe by size, with its cosmic interiors sheltering hundreds of start-ups, cosy coworking spots, and a number of research enterprises in such areas as the IT; biotechnology with both medical and agricultural applications; advanced industrial technologies; energy development and hydrocarbons recovery technologies; space research, and others.
