On February 10-15, 2020 Sri Lankan students, currently enrolled at the People's Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), are organizing the Sri Lankan Cultural Week to promote Sri Lankan historic and cultural heritage among the international student community at the RUDN University.
In the framework of the Sri Lankan Cultural Week, all students have a chance to get familiarized with Sri Lankan traditions and customs and taste pure Ceylon tea. A food festival with items of unique Sri Lankan cuisine was also organized in the beginning of the week.

February 5, 2020 marked the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (former Patrice Lumumba University), also known as RUDN University. It is famous for being an alma mater for students from more than 158 countries, which makes it one of the most internationally diverse higher education institutions in Russia.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the RUDN University gathered students, faculty staff members, graduates and friends of the University for a Gala Concert at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow on February 8, 2020. Among the guests were also representatives of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, namely, Second Secretary (Political Affairs) Ms. Nirosha Herath, Second Secretary (Commercial) Ms. Chathurika Perera, and Consular Officer (Education Affairs) Ms. Nayomi Chandrasiri.

On February 11, 2020 the XXV Anniversary International Forum on Security & Safety Technologies started its 3-day run in Moscow. The Forum is recognized as one of the major platforms bringing together leading experts and specialists in the matters of national security.

Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commercial) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia participated in the Conference dedicated to Digital Transformation: from a Safe City to a Safe Region at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
