The first bulk crew changes after the lockdown were carried out at the Hambantota International Port (HIP), keeping to best practices and strict health and safety standards.

On July 24, 2020 Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia prof. M.D. Lamawansa received Mr. Artem Nikolaev, advisor to the Member of the Parliament on matters related to trade. Mr. Mohamd Anas, Counsellor and HOC, and Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commercial) also participated in the discussion.
The Head of Mission and Mr. Nikolayev spoke about investment opportunities in Sri Lanka including Port City Project and Pharmaceutical industry, and highlighted importance of boosting the trade cooperation between the countries.

On July 21, 2020 Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia H. E. Prof. M. D. Lamawansa received Mr. Evgeniy Stroganov, Chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Russian Union of Good Producers.

On July 23, 2020 Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia professor M.D. Lamawansa received Mr. Alexander Novokhatsky, Director General of Europa-Asia Trade LLC, Mr. Igor Strugov, Director of International Development Department, Europa-Asia Trade LLC, and Mr. Sergey Korsun, Assistant to the State Duma Depyty. Mr. Mohamed Anas, Counsellor and HOC, Ms. Nirosha Herath, Second Secretary (Political) and Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commercial) were also present at the discussion.

On July 23, 2020 Ambassador–Designate of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation prof. M.D. Lamawansa accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Anas, Counsellor and HOC, Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commercial) and Ms. Nirosha Herath, Second Secretary (Political) paid a courtesy call on Ambassador of Armenia to Russia H.E. Vardan Toganyan. Ambassador-Designate M.D. Lamawansa is concurrently accredited to the Republic of Armenia.

Foreign Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha said that the investment environment in Sri Lanka for Indian investors is conducive not only because of its stable leadership but also due to the strong bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and India. This was consolidated on following the early visits of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister to India where areas of cooperation was fully reviewed.
