A cordial meeting was held between Dr. Oleg Salagai, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation and Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to explore new opportunities for collaboration in the healthcare sector.

The XV Eurasian Youth Economic Forum annual symposium organized by the Ural State University of Economics was convened in Yekaterinburg from 21st to 24th April 2025. The Forum themed around Eurasian Synergy: Multipolarity, integration and identity, building a future through dialogue and mutual understanding brought together youth delegates, academics, diplomats, and policy influencers from across the Eurasian continent to discuss pathways for Eurasian integration and sustainable and inclusive global development. The special role young people, the future leaders, global actors, scientists, entrepreneurs, and government officials can play in the realization of these goals were elaborated by the participants.

"Russian Express" – one of the top 10 tour operators of Russia invited Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera and Embassy officials for a special meeting during their 29th Anniversary celebrations held in April. The main purpose of the meeting was to focus Sri Lanka as an exotic all-year round destination for Russian tourists.

Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera recently attended a round table of the Vostok discussion club hosted by the editorial office of Komsomolskaya Pravda, titled "Tourism: Asia". Komsomolskaya Pravda is a renowned media group in the Russian Federation with a weekly audience of 53.9 million. The event was hosted in celebrating the 100th anniversary of Komsomolskaya Pravda media group. The Vostok discussion club was launched by the UN Environment Programme in the Russian Federation in 2022 with the aim of making a platform to discuss different topics in support of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2023.

In view of the International Women's Day 2025, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation hosted an engaging and interactive session celebrating the contribution by women in leadership roles for peace, stability and sustainable development of the society.

Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera paid a courtesy call on Mr. Maxim Baranov, Director General of the Second Asian Department on 12.03.2025 at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.
