Under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), as in the previous years, in collaboration with Sri Lankan Embassy in Moscow, Sri Lankan travel agents and tour companies participated in OTDYKH/ Leisure International Tourism Exhibition-2019, which commenced on 10th September 2019, at Expo Centre, Moscow.
Leisure Exhibition is one of the largest International tourism fairs being organized in Moscow. This is the 16th edition of Leisure Exhibition held since 2001, and attracted more than 20 countries this year.

On September 4, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka visited the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Russia's highest military education and research institution for senior-rank officers of all Services. Established in 1832 by Russian Emperor Nicholas I, the Academy was developed into the most prominent centre of research in military art, strategic studies, operational tactics, and one of cornerstone contributors to the development of Russia's national security, acting as advisory body to the country's military leadership. Among graduates of the academy there are more than 600 Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, 52 of them were awarded this title twice and two of them - three times. Famous statesmen, Marshals and military theoreticians formed the basis of the teaching and research staff of the Academy in Soviet times, thereby preserving the continuity of its best traditions and rich experience.

On August 28, 2019 H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation visited the Middle East and North Africa Department, Russian MFA. The Ambassador was received by the Director of the Department, Alexander Kinschak, a veteran diplomat, who served in the Republic of Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic twice as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and in the capacity of envoy-adviser.
