Sri Lankan Ambassador Hosts Prominent Russian Media Personnel

On September 10, 2020, the Sri Lankan Embassy held a reception hosted by the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Prof. M.D. Lamawansa in a soothing and joyful atmosphere, at the ambassador's residence. The event drew many prominent Russian media representatives including TASS, MIA Rossiya Segodnya, Interfax, Kommersant, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Izvestia, Russia Today, Russia 24, TV Centre, Sputnik, Argumenti i Facty, Ruptly Video Agency, and RIA Novosty providing an opportunity to take a closer look at Sri Lanka's potential in the spheres of trade, tourism, culture, education, investment and military cooperation.

September 8, 2020 marked the commencement of the International Trade Fair for Travel & Tourism "Leisure 2020" that is held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center. Although the trade fair annually serves as a major platform for promotion of various tourist destinations, including Sri Lanka, this year, due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, the event is mainly focused on promotion of domestic tourism with a number of regions of the Russian Federation being represented at the trade fair.
Saudi authorities decide not to charge any fee or fine as a relief for exiting Sri Lankan migrant workers
The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has offered that any Sri Lankan migrant worker, with valid or expired visit visas of all kinds, re-entry visa or final exit visa, who could not depart the Kingdom during the visa validity period due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be permitted to leave the Kingdom through the Immigration points of the airports upon their departure without being charged any fees or fines. This is a temporary measure taken by the Saudi Government given the circumstances faced by the Sri Lankan migrant workers, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Russian assistance to improve Sri Lankan agricultural sector

Prominent agricultural institutions and industries in Russia have agreed to assist Sri Lankan agriculture sector. This was highlighted during the site visits made by the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Prof MD Lamawansa and his staff to one of the most leading agricultural regions of Russia, the Kursk region.
Outdoor Sri Lankan Cultural show was held in Russia

With the aim of promoting Sri Lankan culture in the provincial regions of Russia, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Moscow organized a cultural show in the city of Kursk on 31st August. The Kursk city is located 550 Km away from Moscow.
Sri Lankan Embassy promotes Ceylon Tea and Tourism in Kursk region of Russia

Tea section of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Russia organized a tea degustation session on August 31, 2020 in a leading supermarket market chain in the Kursk region "Liniya" at the MegaGrinn shopping mall. This was arranged in the framework of the official visit of H. E. Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, accompanied by Embassy officials.
