At the invitation of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, members of the military-diplomatic corps, accredited in Russia, took part in the solemn events, dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.

On 8 May, Gp Capt Uditha Piyasena, Counsellor, Defence, at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow, visited the "Patriot" Park and the main Cathedral of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, where a special prayer service was held to commemorate the Victory Day. This service was attended by active servicemen, cadets from military universities, foreign Defence attaches and Deputy Defence Ministers Alexander Fomin and Andrei Kartapolov.  

Group Captain Uditha Piyasena, Counsellor, Defence, at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow, joined the group of about 80 representatives of the military and diplomatic corps from 52 countries, accredited in Russia, who visited the Ashuluk training ground of the 185th Centre for combat training and combat use of Aerospace Forces of Russia in the Astrakhan region on April 27-28, 2021.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, represented by CEO, Mr. Manjula de Silva, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia, represented by the Executive Director, Mr. Andranik Aleksanyan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) virtually on Friday, April 30, 2021. On April 28, 2021 on behalf of Ambassador H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Mohamed Anas organized Iftar ceremony for the Chief Imam of Moscow Cathedral Mosque and the Muslim delegation comprised of Imams and representatives of business community. The event took place in the official Residence of Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Moscow. 

In his opening remarks, Mr. Anas underlined the historically established friendly relations between Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation, and close ties between the Embassy of Sri Lanka and Moscow Cathedral Mosque, which stand too close to each other.
