On May 23-25, 2023, Sri Lankan delegation headed by Secretary to the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and including H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage took part at the XI International Meeting of High-Ranking Officials responsible for Security Matters.

Following the visit of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, to the Republic of Tatarstan, an online introductory meeting was arranged between the Kazan Federal University (KFU, Russia), the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM) and the University of Moratuwa (UOM) on 06 June 2023.

On May 11-13, 2023 Sri Lankan Ambassador H.E. Professor Janitha A. Liyanage paid her first working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan, one of the most economically developed regions of Russia, in order to explore its trade, economic, and humanitarian potential and seek opportunities for fruitful cooperation.

On May 30, 2023, H.E. the Ambassador Prof. Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage presented her Letters of Credence to the President of Kazakhstan H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

On May 29, 2023 during her first official visit to Astana, H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage paid a courtesy call on the headquarters of CICA.
The Ambassador Prof. Janitha Liyanage was received by the Deputy Secretary General Ms. Chi Fang. Her Excellency expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in the spheres of tourism, green energy, trade and education.

On 18th May 2023, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow took part in the International Forum "Best Investment Projects 2023" delivering a presentation with a main focus on Port City in Colombo, Hambantota Industrial Park, projects coming under UDA and other lucrative investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
