Hon. Navin Dissanayake, Minister of Plantation Industries of Sri Lanka, met with Mr. Vladimir Ivanovich Padalko, the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation During his visit to Moscow, on February 7, 2017.

On February 8, 2017 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia with the support of the Sri Lanka Tea Board conducted a Ceylon tea networking dinner reception at the Ritz Carlton Moscow Hotel in parallel to the 24th Prodexpo International exhibition and the visit of the Minister of Plantation Industries Hon. Navin Dissanayake to the Russian Federation. The event gathered 100 prominent representatives of the tea trade in the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka.

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow commemorated 69th Anniversary of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka on 4th February 2017 at the Chancery with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador Dr. Saman Weerasinghe and singing the national anthem in Sinhala and Tamil followed by two minute silence observed in honour of all the national heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the country.

On January 26, 2017 the delegation from the National Institute of Labour Studies under the Ministry of Labour and Trade Union Relations of Sri Lanka visited the Academy of Labour and Social Relations of the Russian Federation to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
