19th August, 2016 in Minsk, Republic of Belarus, the 2nd Session of Sri Lanka-Belarus Joint Commission on Trade & Economic Cooperation successfully concluded with the signature of the bilateral Protocol summarizing the directions of further development of economic projects and trade ties between the countries.

The Joint Commission was co-chaired by Mr. T. M. K. B. Tennekoon, Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Sri Lanka, and Mr. Valentin Rybakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. The Joint Commission on Trade & Economic Cooperation will be followed by Sri Lanka-Belarus Foreign Office Consultations taking place in Minsk on August 22, 2016. Ms Chandima Kiriwandala, 1st Secretary (Trade), Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation participated from Sri Lanka side.
 
The 1st Joint Commission on Trade & Economic Cooperation had been held in Colombo in July 2014.
