On December 18, 2019 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka accompanied by Mrs. Sanja Jayatilleka attended the New Year reception at the invitation of H.E. Eleonora Mitrofanova, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots living abroad, and International Cultural Cooperation, and the Russian Association for International Cooperation.

The event was attended by Ambassadors and diplomats of foreign countries, officials of the Russian Authorities and representatives of the foreign associations and cultural centers in Moscow.
H.E. Eleanora Mitrofanova in her speech noted that the year of 2019 was difficult, full of events, and still the Friendship Societies managed to successfully develop their activities.
The reception was marked by the New Year's gift to those gathered - the ancient Chuvash winter holiday Surkhuri performed by the Senyal ensemble with the support of the leadership of the Republic of Chuvashia.
