On December 19, 2018 Ambassador Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka went to the Bolshoi Theatre at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which customarily hosts Ambassadors and their wives for an annual festive seasonal reception at the Bolshoi. This year it was for the ballet performance of Don Quixote.

The programme commenced with address by Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Foreign Minister Lavrov focused on the tendency of some to attempt to replace the world order, including nuclear agreements and international law, with the views of their own alliance. He hopes that 'like-minded states' which valued the international law, based on respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, would work closely to protect world peace and the international system.
When greeted by Ambassador Jayatilleka and wife Sanja, Foreign Minister Lavrov instantly spoke in Sinhala, asking about their health and well-being: "Kohomada Sapa Saneepa? Hondin innavada? Varadak ney neda?"
The speech of Foreign Minister was followed by a cocktail reception at the Beethoven Hall and a wonderful performance of ballet dance.
