On March 24, 2017 within the framework of the official visit of the President of Sri Lanka H. E. Maithripala Sirisena to Russia, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation jointly organized the Sri Lanka – Russia Business Forum which was held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

 The event was co-chaired by Mr. Upul Jayasuriya, Charoman, Board Investment of Sri Lanka from the Sri Lanka side and by Mr. Grigoriy Petrov, Advisor of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation from the Russian side.

Among the high level guests were the President of the Sri Lanka - Russia Business Council, Mr. Isuru Samarasinghe, representatives of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow and Sri Lankan companies which are interested in cooperation with Russian entrepreneurs. As for the Russian side, the representatives of the jewelry, tourism, tea, food & beverages, technologies business sectors took part in the event.

During the event Mr. Upul Jayasuriya, Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, made a comprehensive presentation on the investment opportunities in Sri Lanka for Russian entrepreneurs. This was the first ever business forum organized in the Russian Federation, with the assistance of the Chamber of Commerce and industry of the Russian Federation. The event was facilitated by the Sri Lanka Russia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy for Sri Lanka and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. 

Furthermore, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation has assisted the Sri Lanka Business Community in obtaining multiple entry visas for the business activities in the Russian Federation and assured its fullest support in enhancing the bilateral trade and investment among the two countries.

The Russia - Sri Lanka Business Forum was a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the economic and investment potential of Sri Lanka, to find trade partners and establish business relationship with the representatives of both public and  private business circles.
