In April 2016 six leading Russian universities – MIREA, MSLA, MSUME, SURL named after A. S. Pushkin, SUM, MSUDT – organized the International festival “Youth” which took place in the Moscow State University of Fine Chemical Technologies.

The festival was very internationally oriented and included not only a ceremony and a concert, but also an exhibition, presentation and tasting of traditional Russian and Caucasian cuisine. The event was attended by many guests, including Russian and foreign students from all over the world who came to study at Russian universities. Rectors of all six universities – organizers and several diplomats were present at the concert as guests of honor among which was Mr. Samantha Pathirana, Minister of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia.

The festival not only became a starting point for the World Youth Forum and the International Festival “Youth” which will be held in Russia next year, but also demonstrated its value for the Moscow student community as a tool for cooperation and art of youth.
As Mr. Sergey Bargov, the Deputy Director of the MIREA Institute of youth policy and international relations said during his speech at the closing ceremony, “a student scientific conference on Russian history will be organized on the grounds of this festival next year and later the festival will be brought up to the federal level, as it will welcome students from higher education institutions from the Far East, Siberia, and Ural”.

Therefore, the International Festival “Youth” which was held in Moscow this year showed creativity and enthusiasm of the Moscow student community and proved that internationalism is the key elements for both educational and social development nowadays.
