VIII Global Forum of Young Diplomats was held on the sidelines of the International Cooperation Forum on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of public diplomacy in Moscow. The Forum was organized by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry under the theme 'Diplomacy of Victory', providing a dedicated platform for young diplomatic officers and international relations experts to deepen professional ties and strengthen cooperation among nations.

The Forum commenced with virtual opening remarks from Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The event was attended by 130 young diplomats from 65 countries, underscoring the broad international participation and shared commitment to advancing dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperative solutions in the pursuit of global stability and prosperity.

The Forum's working sessions focused on pressing global priorities, including the essential role of the United Nations in shaping a multipolar world order, and this year's milestone 80th anniversary celebrations. The sessions also explored the theme 'Cooperation without Borders: Youth, Sports, Education, and Culture', highlighting the transformative power of youth engagement in diplomacy and international collaboration.

Ms. Mihiravi Dissanayake, Counsellor of the Embassy, delivered remarks during the second session. In her speech, she emphasized how youth can serve as a bridge for peace and underscored the significant contributions made by women to global peace building.

The Forum benefits young diplomats in offering useful networking opportunities, knowledge sharing and in enhancing diplomatic skills through training and discussion.
