On April 24, 2024 a meeting between Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage and the Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region Vyacheslav Yarin took place at the Residence of the Governor, historical and architectural monument the Sevastyanov's House.

During the meeting, the Head of Mission and the Minister discussed the results of cooperation in trade and economics, education, sport and youth affairs and underlined other promising areas of common interest. The interlocutors emphasized progressing collaboration in garment sector and fruitful interaction between Universities of Sri Lanka and Sverdlovsk region. Thus, last year more than 70 student from Sri Lanka took part in the University International Sports Festival 2023. This year two University delegations headed by Vice-Chancellors are taking part in the XIV Eurasian Youth Economic Forum.
The Minister H.E. Vyacheslav Yarin extended gratitude to H.E. the Ambassador Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage for her active support and facilitation that resulted in productive cooperation.
