The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized an introductory online meeting between the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) and the University of Peradeniya (UP) 18 September 2023.

While greeting the gathering Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, called on the two sides to establish strong links via mutual participation in conferences, collaboration in research, student and academic exchange.
Associate Professor Alexander Bednyy, Vice Rector of the UNN, expressed his gratitude H. E. the Ambassador for her personal involvement in development of educational links between Sri Lanka and Russia and underlined that after her visit to Nizhny Novgorod the Embassy established systematic work with the University.
Prof. C. N. R. A. Alles, Director of the International Relations Office of the University of Peradeniya invited the representatives of the UNN to participate in the International Week held by the University and identified the prospective connections between the two sides.
The Universities agreed to prepare a roadmap of cooperation, which would include developing a Memorandum of Understanding, a Student Exchange Agreement and joint scientific cooperation. The sides also extended mutual invitations for visits.
