On January 11-14, 2023, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage visited Minsk. One of the highlights of the visit was the official opening of the office of Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Belarus. The ceremony took place on January 12, 2023. The delegation of the Embassy was received by a newly appointed Hon. Consul Prof. Dmitry Ruzanov.

The team of Hon. Consul in Minsk will provide assistance to the citizens of Sri Lanka studying and residing in Belarus and give new impetus to promotion of Sri Lankan interests in the sphere of education, trade, tourism, tea, culture etc.
The office is located in a business center in the central part of Minsk, Republic of Belarus.
H.E. the Ambassador was presented with the gift Bas-relief called "The Wealth of Nature" by the famous artist Maksim Drigo. The two noble animals, an Elephant and a Bison, symbolize Sri Lanka and Belarus emphasizing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
