In the course of the visit of the delegation of Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, initiated by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ural Federal University (UrFU) and the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM).

Mr. A. V. Koksharov, Rector of the UrFU, visited the National Institute of Business Management to discuss cooperation with the Sri Lankan institution and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dr. D.M.A. Kulasooriya, Director General of NIBM.
The NIBM expressed its wish to expand higher educational opportunities offered to Sri Lanka through establishment of partner programmes with the faculties of Computer Science & Engineering, Business, Languages, Humanities & Design and opening Masters and PhD opportunities to its students. The UrFU, in its turn expressed interest in arrangement and conducting joint seminars and conferences, exchange of undergraduate students and teaching staff, etc.
The Embassy extends its gratitude to Mr. Tilan M. Wijesooriya, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka, for his facilitation to organization of the visit. The delegation was accompanied by Ms. Anna Makarovskaya, staff member of the Embassy.
