Ku-Mo

With coordination of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, and participation of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Moscow, a meeting was held between the Kursk State Medical University (KSMU), Russia, and the University of Moratuwa on 18 November 2022.

Assoc. Prof. Mohamad Toufic Chahine, Director of International Medical Institute, KSMU, who also holds the position of the Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka in Kursk region, discussed with Prof. F. R. Fernando, Dean, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Moratuwa, and other staff of the University the possibilities of building ties between the two Universities.
Kursk State Medical University currently provides education to about 350 Sri Lankan students and has a well-established infrastructure and experience, which enables it to share knowledge with the recently established Faculty of Medicine of the University of Moratuwa.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed conducting elective courses, teachers and student exchange, the possibility of establishing joint programmes, joint research, seminars, workshops and conferences. The Universities undertook to follow up on cooperation and sign the Memorandum of Understanding at the earliest to enable further cooperation.
