Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage took part in the 25th anniversary St. Petersburgh International Economic Forum SPIEF-2022.

In the framework of SPIEF, Ambassador Prof. Liyanage attended the Plenary Session headed by H.E. President Putin. Preceeding the main event, the picture of former President and PM Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa was displayed on the head screen during the photo report of Russia's friendly relationships with foreign countries.

H.E. Prof Liyanage was invited by Moscow city Government to speak at the business-breakfast dedicated to Smart City projects and shared Sri Lankan experience in city infrastructure developments.
Ambassador took part in the reception at the invitation of Minister of foreign economic and international relations of Moscow Government Mr. H.E. Cheryomin and attended reception held on behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg H.E. Alexander Beglov.
In the margins of the forum, Ambassador Prof. Liyanage used the opportunity to get aquainted with the trade and economic potential of different regions of Russia.
To conclude the programme, Ambassador Prof. Liyanage scheduled the meeting with Sri Lankan students who study abd reside in St. Petersburg to discuss issues they may face.
