On 06 June 2022, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized a meeting between the UI. Y. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University, Russia, and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.

Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Russia, Professor Vladimir Ivanov, Rector of the UI. Y. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University and Prof. Ranjana W. Seneviratne, Vice Chancellor of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine participated in the meeting together with the staff members of the respective institutions.
Since the Chuvash State Pedagogical University possesses profound knowledge on pedagogy and languages, the sides discussed the possibility of organizing Russian-language courses by the specialists of the Russian University for the Sri Lankan students. At the same time, they discussed such prospective spheres of cooperation as staff and students exchange, joint research and programmes, etc.
The Universities agreed to continue communication and sign the Memorandum of Understanding at the earliest.
