On 22 March 2022, the Embassy organized an online meeting between the Moscow State University of Sports and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine. The meeting was headed by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia and gathered Prof. Ranjana W. Seneviratne, Vice-Chancellor of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, and PhD Nataliya Tkachenko, Vice-Rector of the Moscow State University of Sports and Tourism, and the staff of the two Universities.

The sides presented their Universities and recognized the prospective interaction points, such as development of wellness tourism, sports training, exchange of academic staff and students, joint research, exchange of experience, etc. The Universities decided to exchange promotional materials, map out a program of cooperation and join hands to advance education performance in the spheres of sports and tourism both in Sri Lanka and Russia.
