H.E. the Ambassador, professor Janitha A. Liyanage, was invited for the meeting by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, Mr. A.V. Gruzdev on 22nd of February 2022 dedicated to the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and the upcoming visit of the delegation of the Ministry to Colombo in the first week of March 2022.

In his welcome speech Mr. A.V. Gruzdev noted the importance of the bilateral economic relations development highlighting the strength of Russia in the field of renewable energy using solar and wind power and expressed his willingness to share the researches results in this sphere with Sri Lankan colleagues as well as in other fields.

Further H.E. the Ambassador introduced the opportunities for development of collaboration provided by Sri Lanka, such as collaboration in batik, apparel and textile industry, in wellness tourism sector and enlisted the support from the Ministry in establishment of Sri Lanka Trade Houses in Moscow, Kursk and Saint-Petersburg.

The meeting came to its termination in a very friendly manner and ended with the proposal of the Ministry to assist in any issues related to the development of bilateral relations.
