At the invitation of Prof. Elena Krotkova, Rector of the Grodno State Medical University (GSMU), Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, visited on December 08-09, 2021 the GSMU and participated in a number of events organized by the University.

Grodno State Medical University provides education to more than 700 Sri Lankan students and during a meeting with Rector, Vice Rectors and Dean of the Foreign Students Faculty, the sided discussed Sri Lankan students' well-being, academic performance, social life, cooperation opportunities with Sri Lankan Universities, etc.
H. E. the Ambassador also visited the University Clinical hospital and a Multiprofile Accreditation and Simulation Center to inspect the facilities where students develop practical skills and doctors do their advanced training, the hostel where Sri Lankan students live, academic buildings and sports facilities and watched the colourful concert and presentation organized by students' community. Ambassador also gave interviews to Grodno TV Channels on the prospects for cooperation with Sri Lanka.
Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage also held a meeting with Sri Lankan students to discuss any matters of their concern and provided the consular services.
