Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage took part the Awarding Ceremony at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Russian Association for International Cooperation Mr. Vladimir Polozkov.

Dr. Saman Weerasinghe – General Secretary of Sri Lanka – Russia Friendship Society, Advisor to Prime Minister of Sri Lanka for international affairs, Former Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia (2015-2018), and Mr. Valery Tokarev, President of Russia-Sri Lanka Friendship Society, Cosmonaut-Pilot, Hero of the Russian Federation, were awarded Russian MFA badge "For Interaction". This award is given to citizens for active joint work together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on the development of bilateral cooperation, assistance in strengthening peace and friendly relations between states.
In her congratulatory massage, Ambassador Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage conveyed gratitude to both recipients of the medals for their contribution in strengthening interaction between Sri Lanka and Russia and in promoting interests of both countries. The Ambassador thanked the Russian MFA for long friendship and recognition of achievements of Dr. Weerasinghe and Mr. Tokarev in establishing bridges between the countries.
The Ceremony took place in the building of the Moscow Government and was attended by representatives of Russian MFA and officals from Russian Association and International Cooperation, including Director of the Department for Liaisons with the Constituent Entities of the Federation, the Parliament and Public Associations, Russian MFA Mr. Semen Grigoryev, and Deputy Chair of the Presidium of the Russian Association of International Cooperation Mr. Georgy Muradov.
