The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a meeting with the participation of Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka in Saint Petersburg, the National Crafts Council and the Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board to discuss the possible ways of opening branches of Laksala and Lak Shilpa in line with the establishment of Sri Lankan Houses in several Russian cities.


The meeting was chaired by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage , H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia and the other participants were Ms. Ruvini Munidasa, Counsellor and Head of Chancellery, Ms. Nirosha K. Herath, First Secretary, Mr. Tishan De Silva, Third Secretary, Mr. Sampath Erahapola, Chairman, National Crafts Council (Lak Shilpa) and his staff, Mr. Lakmal Wickramaarachchi, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board (Laksala) and his staff and Mr. Vagram Zakharyan, Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka in Saint Petersburg.
The Embassy is currently making efforts to open Sri Lankan Houses in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kursk, to promote Sri Lankan products, such as handicraft, tea, etc. trade, tourism and culture.
The Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka in Saint Petersburg is supporting Sri Lanka to promote its products in Russia.
At the meeting it was discussed a strategy on further cooperation and the Participants expressed their utmost interest in this regard for the betterment of Sri Lanka and Russia relationship.
