01 July 2021 Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, hosted a dinner to a number of representatives of cultural and educational institutions of Russia, with whom the Embassy has been working closely lately and is planning new projects in the near future.

The guests representing the cultural sphere included Ms. Valeria Chernogorodova, Head of the International Section of the Federal Agency for Youth, Mr. Airat Ahmetov, Consultant of the Organizational and Analytical Department of Rossotrudnichestvo, Ms. Marina Melanina, Head of the Center for Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library and Ms. Smitha Senguptha, the contact officer of the Library, Mr. Ilia Vasilevsky, Director of the Educational and Leisure Center Marfino and its other representatives.
The guests representing the educational sphere included Ms. Elena Sharkadi, Vice Director of the School 1250 for Education and teachers of the School. The Embassy has already conducted a number of events with collaboration with the School and is planning to develop the cooperation further. On behalf of the Director of the School, Mr. Vasily Murzak, the Vice Director presented to Prof. M. D. Lamawansa a painting done by a pupil of the School.
During his speech, His Excellency heartily greeted all the officers joining at the event and highlighted the importance of the public diplomacy, cultural and educational ties for development of the bilateral relations of the two countries.
After the official part of the event, Prof. M. D. Lamawansa invited the guests for dinner in the course of which the invitees tasted the traditional Sri Lankan food and enjoyed the live culinary show.
