On July 5, 2021, the International Industrial Trade Fair 2021 started its 4-day run in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa accompanied by 1st Secretary (Commercial) Ms. Thavishya Mullegamgoda and PA Ms. Olessya Romanova attended the Conference.

Launched in 2010 INNOPROM has become a highly reputed industrial, commercial and export platform for discussions and displaying the world's best industrial technologies. In 2021 The Forum brought together 43 000 visitors including foreign experts, academics, politicians and public figures from different countries and regions of the Russian Federation.
Ambassador Prof. M.D. Lamawansa attended the official Welcome reception hosted by the Governor of Sverdlovsk region and had a brief conversation with the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade H.E. Denis Manturov on the matters of mutual interest. The Minister has shared his warm feelings towards Sri Lanka as his parents worked in the Russian Embassy in Colombo.
In the framework of the Forum the Embassy delegation has also participated in "Flexible Manufacturing: Maximum Adaptation", the main strategic session of INNOPROM, which was attended by the Russian Federation Government heads and CEOs of the world's largest companies. The Ambassador and the Trade Secretary attended series of sessions, focusing on world's best practices and technologies, educational solutions for industry, digital production and green approach to productivity, and visited the exhibition pavilions.
