The XI annual international exhibition for industrial trade affair "INNOPROM-2021" was held from 5-8 July 2021. INNOPROM is the main industrial, trade and export platform held in Ekaterinburg, Russia annually since 2010, which serves as a platform where the foundations of industrial policy are laid. About 80% of the exhibition visitors are professional buyers from around the world, specialists from industrial enterprises, who make decisions about the introduction of new products and technologies in the production.

Despite the pandemic, this year event brought together 30 countries and over 600 Russian and international companies, experts, professional buyers, specialists specialized in production of a wide range of industries including metal working, industrial automation, additive manufacturing, mechanical engineering & component manufacturing, power engineering technologies. Hon. Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation was the chief guest at this year fair and addressed the gathering at INNOPROM-2021's strategic session "Flexible Manufacturing: Ultimate Adaptation".
H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation headed the Sri Lankan delegation accompanied by Ms. Thavishya Mullegamgoda, first secretary (Commercial) and Ms. Olessya Romanova, interpreter of Sri Lanka Embassy in Russia to the Trade Fair and held meetings with key players in the field including Mr. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation. Sri Lankan delegation attended the plenary session on Metropolitan Solutions, in which, participants discussed the future of big cities and creating ecosystems. "To Green or Not to Green? a session dedicated to the Innovative means of transport focused on the future of the transport. "Industrial Policy for the Development of the Future Markets: Foodtech" which discussed new technologies, current research & development works, and innovations related to the food market and agriculture.
The Sri Lankan delegation also visited the exhibition area of the forum and interacted with the other participants to discuss on the possibilities for future collaborations particularly in the areas of electrical equipment and machinery, chemical industry, agricultural machinery, the production of textiles, clothing, leather and leather products, metal industry, production of medical equipment, pharmaceutical sector.
