Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Shobini Gunasekera had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Dmitry Platygin.

Officials of Port City Colombo visited Moscow, as a part of an international investment drive for the promotion of the Port City Colombo project - one of the largest Private-Public Partnerships (PPP) in Sri Lanka, aiming to set world-class standards for investments, services, and lifestyle, located strategically at the heart of the South Asian region.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation facilitated a fact-finding mission by Chairmen of both the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) and the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency (SLFEA) to the Russian Federation. The visit, which took place from 10 to 22 July 2025 aimed to explore new avenues for overseas employment opportunities for Sri Lankan workers and strengthen cooperation with Russian stakeholders.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism of Sri Lanka Vijitha Herath met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial meetings in Kuala Lumpur. Discussions centered on further strengthening bilateral ties across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
