Today, on September 11, 2018, His Excellency Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka gave the official start to the traditionally prominent Sri Lankan participation in OTDYKH / LEISURE International Tourism Exhibition at Moscow's Expocentre.

On September 10 2018, a representative of Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival Organizing Committee, Mr. A. O. Moisenko, on behalf of Major General (Retd) G. N. Zaitsev, Legendary Russian Special Forces Commander and Hero of the USSR, presented an autographed book titled "Alpha – My Destiny" to His Excellency Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation.

Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation met Hon. Igor Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federationon 07 September 2018 to present a copy of his Letter of Credence, accrediting him as the Head of the Mission of Sri Lanka in Moscow.

A four-member defence delegation headed by Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne, Secretary, Ministry of Defence visited Russia from 31 August - 04 September, 2018.

The newly appointed Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka assumed duties at the Mission on 03 September 2018.

25th Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition is held in Moscow on March 13-15, 2018.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia has organized a Sri Lankan Pavilion at the exhibition with the support of the Sri Lanka Tourism Bureau.
