On December 13, Ambassador Dr.Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka visited the Exhibition "Nicaragua from the eyes of Russian children", held at Nicaragua Embassy, and were impressed by the drawings of young artists, the way children managed to symbolically express their view on peace, friendship, love, joy, kind-heartedness, and "angel's protection of Nicaraguan people from the demonic threat".

On December 12th, the Russian Foreign Ministry organized for a large group of high ranking diplomats a remarkable visit to and a tour of Skolkovo, the fast growing ecosystem of high-end technology solutions. Skolkovo is an emerging R&D Centre just outside of Moscow's city border, founded 9 years ago as a platform for research and development projects. The place has grown from ground zero in the field of sand into a glass-and-steel techno park, which is now second in Europe by size, with its cosmic interiors sheltering hundreds of start-ups, cosy coworking spots, and a number of research enterprises in such areas as the IT; biotechnology with both medical and agricultural applications; advanced industrial technologies; energy development and hydrocarbons recovery technologies; space research, and others.

Today, Ambassador Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka made their first visit to the State Duma, or "the Thought of State", as it translates from Russian, the historic Russian Parliament established at the time of turmoils of 1905-1906, a period now called the First Russian Revolution. The State Duma, re-convoked in the early years of the post-Soviet presidential republic in 1993, is now the lower house of the two-chamber Russian Parliament – and is its only elected chamber.
