Sri Lanka's Non-aligned, omni-directional external relations outreach was symbolized by the presence of the Ambassadors of China, USA, Cuba, Venezuela, the Vatican and the DPRK in addition to top officials from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the diplomatic reception held on the occasion of the 71st Anniversary of the National day of Sri Lanka.

On February 14, 2019 the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation held a diplomatic reception to celebrate the 71st Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka.
The reception was attended by 100 guests, among whom were Ambassadors of the USA, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, the Vatican, Lebanon, Vietnam, Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Uruguay, Grenada, Brunei, DPRK, Nepal as well as Deputy Heads of Missions, and other representatives of India, Japan, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Nigeria, Egypt, El Salvador, Indonesia and Tanzania.

On February 12, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka paid a visit to the Carnegie Centre, Moscow branch of Global Carnegie with its Mission to advance peace through analysis and development of fresh policy ideas and direct engagement and collaboration with decision makers in government, business, and civil society.
