At the invitation of the Russian side 10-13 June 2025 Mr. K. M. G. S. Nalaka Kaluwewe, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka participated in the III International Forum of Ministers of Education "Shaping the Future", which is taking place in Kazan.

In the framework of the visit, the Secretary attended the plenary session, addressed the gathering on education in Sri Lanka and collaboration between the two countries in the field of edcuation, visited the Forum Exhibition and held a meeting with Mr. Andrey Korneev, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, to discuss further steps to strengthen Sri Lanka – Russia relations in the sphere of secondary, vocational and higher education via promoting exchange of experience in inclusive education and the latest technologies such as AI and other educational innovations.
The Secretary was also accompanied by Dr. Igor Kozhanov, Rector of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University, which was appointed by the Russian Government as a coordinating institution for Sri Lanka – Russia educational links.
The visit of the Secretary to the Forum will contribute to Sri Lanka's goal to deliver accessible, modern and high-quality education considering global trends, including the rapid and far-reaching integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence models.
