31 May – 03 June 2025 students from Sri Lanka participated in the GoIT.space Olympiad in Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia. The Global Olympiad IT for secondary school students is dedicated to information technology, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The Final of the Olympiad took place in Nizhny Novgorod, which is one of the Russia's leading IT hubs where modern developments in the sphere of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and information security are underway.
The four students who got into the Finals after an online selection stage, accompanied by a teacher, took part in the competition, enjoyed cultural and entertainment programs and an introduction to the educational ecosystem of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Education stands as a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and Russia, with the Embassy playing a proactive role in fostering academic exchange. This includes the establishment of Language Centers and the encouragement of Sri Lankan students' participation in Olympiads held regularly across diverse fields of knowledge. These initiatives not only enhance access to scientific learning but also provide invaluable exposure to international environment and foreign cultures, thereby enriching the educational experience of Sri Lankan youth.
