The Sitting of the Diplomatic Club resumed in May 2025 under the patronage of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The Diplomatic Club is an intellectual platform for communication in a confidential atmosphere for representatives of diplomatic missions, international and regional organizations, business, scientists, educators and cultural figures.

The central event of the program "Culture without borders: the role and development of cultural diplomacy" was the theme of the first event and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, gave the keynote speech and discussed the current political agenda in a direct dialogue with representatives of the diplomatic corp.
During the discussion, the Minister underlined the special role of humanitarian cooperation in strengthening international ties. Foreign Minister Lavrov emphasized that the Eurasia is the only continent, where so many civilizations coexist and have retained their identity and relevance in the modern era. At the same time, Eurasia remains the only continent that does not have its own pan-continental Eurasian structure. Minister stressed a clear need for such a unifying process that can harmonise the interests of many large and truly great powers and civilisations in Eurasia.
On the margins of the Forum Ambassador Gunasekera had the opportunity to meet with the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Gleb Nikitin and discuss emerging cooperation between the region and Sri Lanka with a special reference to foreign employment opportunities.
