On February 29, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Professor Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage accompanied by the Minister of the Embassy Mr. Pandula De Zoysa paid a visit to the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Embassy delegation was received by the Presidend of Moscow CCI Mr. Vladimir Platonov.

Ambassador Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage and the President of MCCI Mr. Platonov discussed the opportunities for collaboration in the sphere of medical equipment and medicines. The sides expressed interest in organizing a round table or a conference with the participation of medical companies from both Sri Lanka and Russia.
Another area of interest related to the experience in implementation of Smart city system with video surveillance in order to provide safety of the cities. The MCCI shared that Moscow was among the top three cities in the world with the best digitalization, emphasizing that ecology, transportation, security, medicine in Moscow have improved a lot in the last 20 years due to digitization.
